Our Nursery provides a rich, stimulating environment that is warm, welcoming, and safe, helping every child feel happy, secure and ready to learn.

IMPACT
Our dedicated Nursery team work collaboratively to observe and assess each child’s progress. We document their achievements; whether through paintings, drawings, writing, or photographs; using Tapestry, our secure online learning journal. Parents can access Tapestry to stay connected with their child’s learning journey and celebrate their milestones.

CURRICULUM
EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS)
We follow the 2025 Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework, which sets national standards for learning, development, and care for children from birth to age five.
At Hilltop Primary School, the Foundation Stage applies to all children aged 3 to 5 covering both our Nursery and Reception classes. The EYFS curriculum is built around seven areas of learning and development, each equally vital in shaping a well-rounded early education.
PRIME AREAS OF LEARNING
These three areas lay the foundation for children's curiosity, relationships, and overall development:
-
Communication and Language
-
Physical Development
-
Personal, Social and Emotional Development

SPECIFIC AREA OF LEARNING
These four areas build upon and reinforce the prime areas:
-
Literacy
-
Mathematics
-
Understanding the World
-
Expressive Arts and Design
